The livestock option also does not result in much of a profit so don’t waste your time with the chickens, pigs, sheep and cows. I found the amount of time, as well as the expense, of growing your own crops did not make sense for the low payout you receive when selling your fruits. Once you purchase your farm you will not actually be working on it at any point. You must also buy your farm in Career Mode rather than it being available when you start. There are side jobs you can do for other farmers on the map. You can lease equipment rather than buying it which is significantly cheaper in the long run.
